Transitions and Trajectories: The Photographs of Bhupendra Karia

Bhupendra Karia (1936-1994) was known not just as a photographer, but also as an artist, teacher, theorist and curator. Karia’s photographs show he was a savvy observer of artistic, cultural and social forces of his time. This portfolio of 18 masterfully-crafted prints, taken in the 1960s and 1970s, document his interest in rural villages, creative traditions, and his unique view of India.
